My Team

Research is one of the most important parts of ISM, and this past week has been the introductory portion to some of the major assignments that we will be doing this year. We began planning out our display boards for research showcase, and even discussed our ideas for our upcoming original works.

Teambuilding is an essential part to any company or organization, and the week started out with some entertaining and interactive exercises that really brought our class closer together. Although some of the things we did were challenging, by working together and talking out possible solutions we were able to efficiently reach our goals. Furthermore, we were able to see all of the display boards of last year's ISM students, and began clarifying how we were going to condense all the work that we have done so far this year onto one board. Personally, I am not an artistic person (I'm the guy drawing stick figures compared to the Picassos and Van Goghs of my class), but I am still going to attempt to make my display board both visually appealing and informative.

As I continue to go on more and more interviews, the variety I see from professional to professional is eye-opening. Whereas some specialists are laidback and easygoing, others are the definition of professional, and I try to align myself with the attitude of each person I interview. The people I have interviewed not only differ in their personalities, but their work environments also have many differences. I believe that the unique nature of each place I go to and each person I talk to in the Sports Medicine field is a big appeal for me, as I know in the future I can bring an original perspective and approach to it.

This next week in ISM, I would like to be fully prepared for my upcoming research speech and have my display board plan finished on time. Also, I would like to continue to get closer and closer to finalizing my mentor. As the distractions around me continue to increase, as the NBA season is starting in three days and college app deadlines are drawing closer, I will try my best to stay focused on ISM.
