Getting Into A Rhythm

As the third week of school comes to a close, I find myself to really be getting into a rhythm in ISM. Just like any great athlete, after a certain amount of time and practice you really start to get in your stride. The focus of this week was interviews, and throughout class we would do mock interviews and ask each other questions. Although we still have a lot of awkwardness to work out, overall I believe that our class has improved leaps and bounds in just a few classes. One of my major accomplishments of this week was finishing my preliminary contact list. As I searched up potential mentors, I realized I had to keep in mind multiple factors like how far they were from school and what hours they worked. Furthermore, going in I wanted to only look for sports physicians, but soon expanded my search to orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists as well.
Later on in the week we were introduced to research assessments, and just by the name I wasn't exactly over the moon to start this assignment. However, in just twenty minutes of research, I learned a plethora of new information about sports medicine regarding the most common injuries in sports. It was overall a very informative and beneficial use of time and effort.
From now on, I plan on approaching our "assignments" differently. I now recognize that these are only ways for us to improve and increase our knowledge about our fields, which will be essential for our first research interviews. This coming week will be crunch time, as business symposium gets closer and closer, but I look forward to the challenges ahead. I also plan on making my resume perfect and starting to contact potential mentors.
